"But blogs are dead," I hear you cry. And up until recently, you'd probably be right. It's so 2004, so, you know... Livejournal (shudders). But with traditional search engine optimisation potentially taking a back seat to LLM queries (please don't make me call those plagiarism machines AI – they're dumb as rocks and I'm more than a little bitter that they stole a whopping 16 of my books to train their models), it's apparently a great way of getting noticed once again. So here we are.

I'm pretty terrible at keeping people updated with what I'm working on, usually waiting until the very last minute to announce I have a book on the way. Hopefully this blog will help remedy that. I also have a newsletter, which you can sign up to on the front page of my website, but that'll stick more closely to my book launches. Here, I might update you with news of what films I've seen, what books I'm reading – possibly even general discussions about the publishing industry. We'll see!

So, who am I?

A science fiction author! I often skirt the line between Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but it really depends on the story, and I'd rather not let a few boring facts get in the way of a fun story. My goal is to entertain you from the first page to the last.

Before going full time with my writing in early 2024, I was a professional copywriter and content writer. I penned explainer video scripts for a load of FTSE 500 companies before joining the team at Self Publishing Formula (now called Learn Self Publishing) to help teach other authors how to market their books.

Outside of writing, I'm a bit of a video game and movie nerd (all right, maybe a bit more than a bit). I enjoy painting Warhammer miniatures as a way to avoid too much screen time (I don't play the tabletop games though, so don't ask me any tough questions about the lore). Obviously I enjoy books, too – Terry Pratchett and Stephen King are my favourites, though Andy Weir takes the top Sci-Fi spot for me.

I'm married to an extremely supportive wife called Jenny, and perpetually pestered by my unnecessarily needy cat, Kathleen.

What books have you written?

Good question, me. At the time of writing, I've penned thirty-four titles – ten passion projects from before I started treating writing like a career and twenty-four subsequent books set in my Dark Star Panorama universe.

The Final Dawn: The Final Dawn; Thief of Stars; A Dark Horizon; The New World; The Tin Soldiers; Ghost of the Father; The Stellar Abyss; The Edge of Night; The Fatal Dark.

War for New Terra: Sigma; Iron Nest; Royal Blood.

Shadows in the Stars: Shadows in the Stars; Shadows in the Snow; Shadows in the Stone; Shadows in the Sands; Shadows in the Salvage; Shadows in the Storm.

Kapamentis Crime: A Cut Below; Cut to the Bone; Cut and Shut; The Final Cut.

Standalone Books: Saturnalia; The Harvest.

Non-DSP Books (the passion projects): Everything Ends; Blackwater Vol. 1, 2 and 3; Mouth of Midnight; Checking Out; Checking Out Clockwise; Checking Out Anticlockwise; The Portrait Lingers Like a Whisper; Gerald Oddman.

Phew! Quite a lot. I like to think I'm just getting started, though...

What's next?

Ah, well a new series set in the same universe as the rest is already in the works, but I'm not spilling the beans just yet! As for this blog... I'll start by announcing the launch of my latest book, The Harvest, and then we'll see where it goes, shall we?

Take care.
